I also love this linen midi which I styled here–also very versatile and a totally different look! Sandals:  Something Navy for Nordstrom–they are shockingly comfortable! Come in black leather and an adorable black and white calf hair animal print too!Purse: Topshop (they have the CUTEST purses right now!) Lipstick: Beautycounter Red

Happy FRIDAY, friends!

We got back from New York last night and it was such a fun trip. Sometimes it's just really nice to switch up the routine, you know? Neal was there on a work trip so I hopped on board to take advantage of the free hotel room. I figured I'd just work from coffee shops during the day but there was one small hiccup I did not foresee:

It's REALLY hard to find a coffee shop with wifi in NYC!?

Or if you do find one, you can't find any seats!? Entrepreneurs–freelancers–bloggers–WHERE do you work!?! I guess because the city is just so jammed nobody offers wifi because they don't want squatters take up real estate and not buying a lot of stuff, but still. Jeeze! I guess I take for granted how many coffee shops we have in Chicago! (By the way, there's a whole blog post right here with my favorites!) It feels good to be back at The Wing in Chicago this morning haha!

Anyway–switching gears–let's talk about this dress! Been getting a lottt of requests for versatile dress ideas. I'm happy to report, you'll want to live in this one for the next several months. (It's also perfect for travel–because it's comfy, cool, and so easy to dress up and down!)

I'm also dying laughing as I write this post because someone recently told me "you and Blair and Shaheen wear all the same clothes and it's annoying". (First of all, SOMEONE was wearing their crank pants that day.)

Second–I mean, despite being snarky–girl's got a point.

Do you always find yourself buying the same clothes as your best friends? I suppose it's because the three of us frequently shop at the same places (Shopbop, Nordstrom, Everlane being the triefecta) but somehow we VERY often end up wearing the same thing. However, I happen to think we style most items pretty differently–so there's that at least.

Not shockingly, somehow ALL THREE OF US ended up getting
this dress.

Actually, Blair, 100% got it first and then Shaheen and I, unbeknownst to each other, both ordered it in pink and brought it on the Patron trip with us; where we shot these pictures. (I also think Blair might own it in two colors these days. Which has me thinking–I think I need the blue!)

Hopefully this demonstrates how truly awesome this dress is. I also think it's helpful that we all have different, er, volumes in the chest area–because it works on all three of us. (Shaheen wears hers with this bralette underneath because it's a little too showy on her without it).

Although, I will say, if you are gifted in the bust area the deep V might be too much and instead I'd recommend this similar dress that isn't so low in the front!  I don't wear a bra with it–I wear petals from Amazon (these are great because they come in different shades to match different skin tones!) You'd definitely need a plunge bra if you wanted to wear a regular bra with it because the neckline is deeper than usual!

Free People Love Of My Life Dress – Why I love this dress so much:

It's perfect for travel:

You better believe this dress is going to be the first thing in my suitcase anytime I travel this summer. The material (which we'll get more into in just a second) is this thicker nubby linen–meaning, it has that look to it that's supposed to look "lived in" and imperfect. You don't have to worry about it being a little wrinkled–it's supposed to be that way! When I travel, I want to bring as many "one piece" outfits as possible that do double duty for day and night, and this is definitely one of them.

The material is perfect for multiple seasons:

Like I mentioned above, the material is thicker than you'd expect for your average linen dress (therefore it also isn't see through!) yet–despite being thicker, it's definitely not hot. I definitely would've worn this all over Italy in the summer heat! On the flip-side, when it starts to cool down in the fall, this would be really perfect with a leather jacket and booties!

Dress it up or dress it down:

Did you see this post on how I styled this favorite linen jumpsuit three ways? (Which by the way, it just got re-stocked!) You could style this the exact same way–with sneakers (these are the one's I recommend that go with everything and are so comfy!) with flats, and with wedges!
